They say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. As humans, that type of insanity seems to be our default mode – until someone or something disrupts our thinking.
I’ve been studying and Tarot Reading for a very long time, (even longer than I’ve worked as a personal and business coach) and to be honest, I still have no idea how it works. I am a reader, an interpreter of the messages. Where those messages come from, I really don’t know. What I do know is that it forces us to look at life from a totally different perspective.
Tarot Reading is a Disruptor
The Tarot is a disruptor – it uproots and forces us to change how we think and approach our lives. It asks us questions that no one and nothing else does and it seems to know our deepest secrets.
My strength as a Tarot reader and coach lies in the work I do with clients around the Fear (or blocker) Card. This is the disruptor card. Often it digs up the thing we don’t want to look at, the thing that’s been blocking us. Sometimes it’s so deeply buried that we have forgotten about it or we’d prefer to remain in denial – even to ourselves. Sometimes we just don’t see it as relevant to the current situation. But it always is.
More often than not the message the Fear card gives a client seems quite obscure. In a recent reading, the card quite clearly said that my client had a fear of her spirituality and until she got that sorted she was not going to achieve her potential results. I felt a bit silly repeating this as it was a business reading about a specific event. I have learned over the years however just to read and repeat the message – no matter how obscure.
My client kind of fumbled over her words and couldn’t think of anything relevant. She is not really “spiritual”, so we left it for a while and I continued with the reading. All of the other cards in the spread were so positive and the potential outcome was a really successful one. It was clear however that the outcome could only be reached once she had faced and dealt with her fear.
Exploring the blocker
I told her we were going to have to explore this blocker a bit deeper to get to the root of it. She agreed and after a conversation exploring what she had been doing on a more personal level, she revealed she had recently qualified as a Reiki Master (for personal rather than business reasons).
“That’s great,” I said, “how are you getting on working with Reiki energy?”
“Oh,” she replied, “I’ve stopped working with Reiki for now. So much old emotional stuff came up and quite honestly I’m exhausted and a bit scared to continue.”
The penny dropped and we got to work on strategies for facing the fear and dealing with the issues. Her event was a great success.
